The new 40-series sedans (S40s) and wagons V40s) clearly display the contemporary styling influence of the company's British-born design chief, Peter Horbury and have completely moved away from that 'square box' image, to present a much sleeker and thoroughly modem look.
Other future Volvo models are set to get the same treatment as the company seeks to broaden its market appeal on an international basis.
These compact 40-series vehicles slot in at the lower end of the Volvo range, replacing the fairly unloved 440 model and selling under the S70 and V70 models (previously known as the 850). Completing a re-naming all its range, Volvo's 960 models are now labelled as S90s and V90s.
